Peace Day in Chicago was founded by The Peace School in 1978.

Each September we organize a large public event, bringing communities and cultures together to celebrate unity and diversity in our city and world.

Our observance has been held in cooperation with the United Nations International Day of Peace since it was established in Nov. 1981.
